What Is The Layout Of A Baccarat Table

4 min read

Baccarat came out in the 15th century as a simple card game and quickly grew in popularity due to the simple rules, a steady around 50% win chance (low house edge), and fast pace style that will keep you on your toes at all times.

Over the years, we’ve seen many Baccarat versions just as different countries started accepting it. However, the main premise of the game remains the same, there are only minor details that have changed just to make the game more interesting.

When it comes to the Baccarat table layouts, they are considered fairly basic even for beginners that are just entering the casino doors.

Baccarat is a game where you have to choose one of three betting choices. You can either bet on the player, the banker, or a tie.

Each hand gets two sets of cards and adding the total of the numbers is determined the winner. The one that gets a sum closest to 9 is the winner. It is important to know that face cards and 10 counts as zero, Ace counts as one and if the sum is more than 10, then the final result will be deducted by 10.

The simplicity of the game reflects on the table layout itself. There are three different tables when it comes to Baccarat. You can either play on a full-size, mini, or midi table, although, they are pretty similar to one another.

Here is the baccarat table layout explained in detail.

Full-Sized Baccarat Table Layout

Most land-based casinos have full-sized Baccarat tables. However, these are not found in smaller casinos and they are primarily focused on high-rollers and for that reason, they are in the middle of the main casino floor.

When it comes to the table limits, it depends on the casino but they usually vary between $50 and $100,000 per bet.

Every Baccarat table has a set of yellow numbers that go across it, but what’s interesting about the full-sized table layout is that there is no 4 or 13.

The numbers go from 1 to 15, but 13 is skipped just because many people think that the number brings bad luck. Sometimes, casinos skip the number 4 for the same reasons since it is considered unlucky in some cultures.

Baccarat tables are U-shaped and there is a dealer in the middle.  There are usually three betting areas and three dealers who run the game. The dealer gives you chips when you sit on the table and collects the 5% commission you own at the end of each shoe.

Each player has three options banker, player, or tie where the chips would be placed.

Mini Baccarat Table Layout

Mini-Baccarat games have gained a lot of popularity just because the game is even more simplified, which is kind of welcoming for new users. On top of that, Mini-Baccarat tables are also more attractive due to the reasonable table limits that offer more chances not only for high rollers but also for mass players.

On the Mini Baccarat table, you’ll get numbers from 1 to 6, but the number 4 is missing since it is considered unlucky. Mini-Baccarat table hosts no more than 7 players.

The table is shaped like a semi-circle and players are seated across the dealer. From the player’s perspective, you’ll find two words, “player” “banker” or “tie” printed in different colors. These are the positions where you’ll place your bets before the dealer draws the cards.

Online Baccarat Table Layout

The online gambling market is growing rapidly at the moment and simple games like Baccarat are immensely popular. Since we are talking about a virtual game, there are many different versions of online Baccarat.

Online Baccarat tables are usually called midi table layouts, which are very similar to Mini-Baccarat table layouts. The rules remain the same. Every player gets three choices for betting and waits for the dealer to deal with the cards.
